Ashleigh M. Adams, PhD (she/her)
Licensed Psychologist
Hi, I’m Dr. Ashleigh Adams, a licensed psychologist dedicated to supporting individuals and couples, especially those dealing with the effects of trauma, anger, and military service. My work draws from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and I’m skilled in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Skills Training in Affect and Interpersonal Regulation, mindfulness practices, anger management, and CBT for bipolar disorder.
I specialize in helping adults navigate the impact of trauma—whether combat-related, sexual, moral injury, or complex experiences—as well as challenges such as anxiety, mood fluctuations, relationship struggles, infidelity, anger, self-harm, suicidality, and substance use. Together, we can process painful experiences and build pathways toward stability, healing, and resilience.
My philosophy is that therapy should empower you to eventually no longer need me. I provide a space for honest reflection, ask meaningful questions, and equip you with practical tools so you can gain confidence, independence, and control over your own life.
At its core, my work is about helping people reclaim choice when trauma has taken it away. If you’re ready to step out of cycles of avoidance and pain, I’d be honored to partner with you in the process. Outside of my practice, I enjoy time with my family (including my dog, Casper), exploring the outdoors, gardening, and cooking.
Dr. Ashleigh’s credentials
I graduated from Temple University with my PhD in clinical psychology in 2015, completed pre-doctoral training at Joseph J Peters Institute and the Philadelphia (CMC) VA Medical Center, focusing on trauma treatments and couples therapy. I also completed post-doctoral training in trauma, chronic pain, and substance use concerns at the Philadelphia VA. I worked at the Steven A Cohen Military Family Clinic at Penn for 8 years before we lost funding; I also served as the Assistant Director and Training Director for the last 5 years of its existence.
